NW Assekuranz insures Danish offshore wind farm Sprogø
Bremen/Hamburg, 20 September 2018
Nordwest Assekuranzmakler GmbH & Co. KG (NW Assekuranz) insures the first Danish offshore wind farm of their long-standing client European Energy A/S from Søborg in Denmark. The wind farm comprises seven Vestas turbines with a total installed power of 21 megawatts. The wind turbines are located immediately north of the 18 kilometre long Great Belt bridge that connects the two Danish islands of Funen and Zealand. For European Energy A/S, the acquisition of this wind farm constitutes their entry into the offshore wind power industry.
"We are glad to have the opportunity to assist our long-standing client European Energy with its first offshore project in terms of insurance," Ralf Tabbert, Managing Director of NW Assekuranz, says. "We were able to use our many years' experience in the offshore sector with an installed power of more than 3,000 megawatts to our client's benefit."
The close cooperation of European Energy and NW Assekuranz at eye level enabled us to quickly place a new insurance concept under the offshore terms of NW Assekuranz that meets all the requirements of all the parties involved in the project.
The wind farm was brought online in 2009 and generates 66 million kilowatt-hours per year for approx. 16,000 households. The wind farm is one of the most efficient offshore wind farms. It achieves an average availability of almost 98 percent. In 2013, it even achieved 99.4 percent availability.
